The A2 role is often overlooked because it's labeled as an "assist" position. However, many would argue, including myself, that they are more critical position than the A1. Great A2's are knowledgable in all areas of the audio department. Depending on the show, they not only assist in deploying PA, but they're responsible for the setup and programming of RF, comms, BOH patching, and system troubleshooting. Moreover, they are the only role required to step into the personal space of your presenters for miking. When selecting an A2, traits that should come to mind are technically proficient, professional, composed, hygienic, and mindful.
